I have the honour to write you, with reference
to the call made for my services to the officers Appointments Department, Ministry of Labour, Gresham House, Uld Broad Street, 1.0.2. for my services in llong Kong as Apothecary. Owing to my disability and condition, it was found that, although well qualified, I was entirely unsuitable for the position, through this Army contracted disability.
I trust ir that you will not allow the matter to remain at that after the following explanation.
Before joining the rmy I was a Chemical and Pharmaceutical Student, working for both qualifications, and from the papers I forwarded to Downing Street you will find that in view of my previous successes, scholastic and professional, I had a most successful career before me.
I had at that time ample financial resources. and every prospect of success, but gave up ami tion, home, and all to join the Army.
I was totally disabled, and returned home, and found that my parents, through losses of war could no longer assist
Since arch 1st 1917 me to complete my education if fit.
un til now I have been certified as to tally disabled, and suffered both mental and physical agony. The Retired Fay awarded me was insufficient to keep myself, home and wife, and through sickness and having domestic responsibility, my Retired Pay, plus my own money became exhausted.
